Source notes
Read the record behind the claim.
Start with the source that answers your question. A rule, a study and a sales claim are different kinds of information.
Read the date before drawing a conclusion
For a rule, check when it applies, which state it covers and which medicine or kind of care it concerns. For a study, look for completed results. For a quote, look for what the payment actually covers.
Ask the person providing your care to explain what a source means for your health problem. One document may answer only part of your question.

Approval and ingredient rules
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) keeps the medicine approval and compounding records.
As of September 2026, BPC-157 had no US approval. Taking back a request to use it did not let pharmacies make medicine from its raw ingredients for individual patients. [A]
Look for the product or ingredient named in a record. A code, registration or meeting notice is a different kind of record from an approval.
Human evidence and its limits
As of September 2026, FDA’s human-study review counted five studies, including small reports without a comparison group. [A]
A report of improvement is not enough to show the cause of that improvement.
Read what was actually compared. Ask whether the study involved people with the concern you bring to care.
Quality papers and unknown effects
FDA’s review, checked in September 2026, described papers for BPC-157 without an added salt, known as the free-base form. Most reported the sample’s BPC-157 content but gave no test results for unwanted substances. [A]
That is a limit on what the paper shows, rather than proof that every medicine is contaminated.
FDA says a problem report cannot establish that the medicine caused it, or provide a basis for estimating how often it occurs. [E]

Visit guidance and licences
A group of US medical boards forms the Federation of State Medical Boards. It publishes advice for state boards; that advice is not itself law. [B]
As of September 2026, US guidance required a doctor to be licensed or otherwise permitted where the patient is during the visit. [C]
The state board’s public record shows a doctor’s current licence status, along with any action taken for breaking professional rules. [D]
Why this guide has no clinic prices
As of September 2026, BPC-157 had no approved medicine with a maker’s published price or a government’s published price. [A]
Use a written quote to ask about the proposed care. Keep unanswered charges visible on the question sheet.
